HAMEL – Charles "Charlie" Hamel, entered Heaven's passage on Monday, April 9, 2012. He was the loving husband of the late June Hamel for 60 years. He was born June 15, 1928 in New Britain; the son of the late Onesime and Rose Hamel. Charlie played football for New Britain High School and then when he graduated, he played semi-pro in the Hartford area. He was an Equipment Operator for over 30 years. He was a member of the Operator Engineers Local # 478 and the Knights of Columbus. Charlie is survived by his children and their spouses, Cheri and John Carollo of Granby, Robin and Michael Veneziano of FL, Kim Hamel of Riverton, Chuck Hamel Jr. and wife Wally of Pleasant Valley; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Stephen, Derek, Niki, Erin-Jo, Zachary, Raza and Chaz; four great grandchildren, Stephanie, Tiffany, Vincenzo and Anthony; 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. He was predeceased by one sister. Friends may call on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 5-8PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church, New Hartford at 11 AM.
