OLD LYME –
MONTANO – Gerald J. Montano, passed away on August 5, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born on January 26, 1951 in Hartford; the son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Lorenzo) Montano. He grew up in Hartford and was proud of being a part of the city at that time. Gerry graduated from McAllister School of Embalming in New York City; a city he loved to this day. He was an extremely dedicated licensed Funeral Director for 39 years. Gerald worked for many funeral homes in the Hartford area and co-owned with his son Montano-Shea Funeral Homes in New Hartford and Winsted. He also enjoyed music, playing the drums and the beach. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. He leaves his son, Jason M. Montano and wife Susan of New Hartford; his daughter, Nicole LaFond and husband James; grandchildren, Mitchell and Marisa Montano; brother-in-law, Ray Woollett; close cousins, Donna Nardi and husband Nick; many extended family and friends. He also leaves his best friend, Kelly Harding. He was predeceased by his brother, J. Gregori Montano. At Gerry's request, a Mass of Christian burial and Interment will be private.
