CERRUTO – Raymond Cerruto passed away on August 7, 2012 at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center after a short stay. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Sieber) Cerruto. He was born on March 24, 1930 in Eastchester, New York, the son of the late Rosario and Maria Nina (Silano) Cerruto. He moved with his family to Torrington in 1932, where he attended Southwest School and graduated from Torrington High School. Ray enlisted in the Army, where he served in the Korean conflict and received an honorable discharge in August 1932. He served on the Torrington Police Department for sixteen years. Ray was a gentle person whose faith in God was genuine. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours taking walks with his dog, Brie. He also loved building birdfeeders and bird houses, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his sister, Lena (Cerruto) McGrath, his brother, George Cerruto, as well as 5 nieces and nephews, 12 grand-nieces and nephews and 8 great grand-nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Grace. Friends may call on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 10 – 11AM at his request, all those in attendance, should be in casual attire. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 AM. Interment will be private with full Military Honors.
