GOUGH - William "Bill" T. Gough, Jr., 86, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010 surrounded by his devoted family. He was the loving husband of Hilda (Christ) Gough for 61 years. Born on July 9, 1924 in Hartford, CT; the son of the late William T. Gough, Sr. and Elsie (Ostertag) Gough. Bill served in the United States Army as a Technician 5th Grade for the 100th Infantry Division during World War II where he made lifelong friends he thought of as brothers. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing them at the annual reunions every year. Bill worked for Hartford Electric Light Company (Northeast Utilities) for 34 years retiring in 1985. He was a resident of Granby since 1955 where he raised and supported his family in sports, community events and as a communicant of St. Therese's Church. He also enjoyed the Men's Breakfast Club at the Granby Senior Center and being a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved traveling to Florida every year and often traveling with the ARENU group. In addition to his wife, Hilda, he is survived by his children, William "Chip" Gough, III, and his wife Jane of Mansfield Center; Harry C. Gough and his wife Barbara of Wethersfield and their children and their spouses, Ian and Elizabeth Boccaccio, Cara and Joe Almon, Rob and Tiffany Gough, Kathryn Gough and Michael Newman, and Kalyn and Andre Pacelli; Albert H. Gough and his wife Lia of Pittsburgh, PA and their children, Karl W. and Randall W. Gough; Christine "Tina" Gagne and her husband Dennis of Northborough, MA and their children, Emilie and Ellen Gagne; Sandra S. Grassel of Pittsburgh, PA and her children, Haley Buchanan and her husband Greg and Steven Scott Grassel; Steven Gough of Southwick, MA and his daughter Olivia "Amie" Gough; and Ginger Gough of Windsor; his great grandchildren, Maxwell and Sophia Boccaccio, Liam Almon and Aelrik Newman; a brother, Ken Gough and his wife Barbara of SC; six sisters, Eleanor Wilbur of FL, Betty Cosker of SC, Nancy Caldeira of Bloomfield, Barbara Dahlman of Vernon, Beverly Young of FL and Elsie Smedberg of Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Betty Gough and Elaine Lynch, both of Granby; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Edward Gough; and two sisters, Caroline Ostrowski and Faith McConnell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at St. Therese's Church, Granby at 10 AM followed by full Military Honors. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at St. Therese's Church, 120 West Granby Road, Granby from 6 - 8 PM. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford has care of the arrangements.
