CHILD - Marion Dorothy Child, 88, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010. Dottie was born in Flushing, NY on January 18, 1922; daughter of the late Eugene Francis Carlson and Anna Charlotte Ey. She lived in Flushing until 1941 when she moved to Connecticut with her family. Dottie made her family home in New Hartford, CT with her first husband the late Frederick Mandel; where she resided until her passing. Dottie fully embraced her role as a housewife making her and Fred's four children the center of her life. She was also a very active member of the North Congregational Church in New Hartford; where she met her second husband Reverend Graham Child. Together Dottie and Graham enjoyed 28 years together, until Graham's passing in 1998, traveling and enjoying time with their children and grandchildren. Dottie will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she has touched. Dottie is joining her siblings, William, Gustuf, Alfred, Thomas, Clifford, Harold and Charles Carlson and Anne Louise Tuzzo, her two husbands, and her beloved son, Stephen Mandel in heaven. She is survived by two sons, James F. Mandel of Torrington and Timothy E. Mandel of New Hartford; a daughter, Deborah White of New Mexico; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 3 siblings, Lindsley Carlson of New Hartford, Marie Seaman of Richfield, NY and Adele E. Caritey of New Hartford. A memorial service will be held on October 2, 2010 at North Congregational Church, New Hartford at 11 AM. Burial will be private and held at Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
