DESJARDIN – Arthur H. Desjardin, 92, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth Desjardin for 65 years. Born December 17, 1917 in Burlington, VT; the son of the late Henry and Josephine (Bleau) Desjardin. He was a resident of New Hartford for 60 years and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Hartford. Arthur was the former Fire Chief in New Hartford for 16 years and New Hartford Fire Marshall. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W. Arthur was also the President of the New Hartford Ambulance Association. He is survived by three daughters; Joan Caine and her husband Ronald of Barkhamsted, Carol Wilson and her husband Mac of Barkhamsted and Mary Chichester and her husband Ken of Barkhamsted, eight grandchildren; Julia Drake, Ron Caine Jr., Thomas Wilson, Rebecca Sepples, Jennifer Caine, Justin Chichester and Trevor Chichester, 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Smith of Norwich; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter; Jean Marie Caine, three sisters; Catherine McCracken, Leona Miller and Dorothy Lines and four brothers; Walter, Leon, Clarence and Henry Desjardin. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Laurel Hill for the wonderful, loving care he received. Thanks as well to Foothills Hospice for their care and support. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford at 11 a.m. to the Immaculate Conception Church, New Hartford for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held at the Village Cemetery, New Hartford with full Military Honors. Friends may call on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, New Hartford from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to: Foothills Visiting Nurse & Home Care, 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098, St. John's Episcopal Church, Pine Meadow, and/or the Northwest Regional Scholarship Fund.
