Guestbook for Dr. Roy B. Sherman Showing 1 - 17 of 17 entries.

I was the last one to see, hug, sing happy birthday and kiss my extraordinary father goodbye on his birthday. His eyes had turned violet that morning, not the striking blue we all knew. I had an unusual feeling that morning. I stayed with him until he insisted I get to work as it was already 10am. I kissed him on the forehead and sang happy birthday, told him I loved him and I'd see him later, all in spanish, and he, as he always did, said Vaya con Dios (Go with God) daughter, I love you, all in spanish. He had an unusual burst of energy and was signing band music as I was walking out the front door, and I smiled all the way to work. He passed shortly after trying to make it out the front door for a walk. For a man who could barely walk these days due to Parkinson's disease, he passed a true Navy Seal. He never gave up. Don't give up. Live hard. Love Hard. Die hard. Good bones Dad, Good Bones. Vaya Con Dios, I'll see you there.

Hi, I have known most of the Sherman family for many years...mostly through my business,
The New Image Hair Salon.
I did have the pleasure of taking care of Dr. Sherman's hair for awhile along with the some of the children.
Sending many Blessings to all the family members.

My sincerest condolences to each of you. I had the privelege of meeting Dr. Sherman when he helped teach the very first EMT class at NCCC in the early 1970s, and have considered him a friend and one of the "godfathers" of today's emergency medical care system in Winsted. We owe a great deal to his passion, compassion and dedication to all his students and patients. Sincerely, Beverly Dillon, Winsted Area Ambulance Association

I have many fond memories of growing up with my brother. I was so proud of him and all he accomplished on his own. I remember how handsome he looked in his white Navy uniform. My Dad told of him walking on the railing of the oyster boat eating a sandwich, Love always joyce

I remember Dr. Sherman as a compassionate and kind doctor. There was a time when I required surgery, and seeing my apprehension as I was being prepped he sat and held my hand, and talked with me about our gardens and flowers. I was soothed by this very caring man who I've remembered for many years.

He was my father-in-law for 16 years. Once he came to the house in Colchester when Roy and I invited him for a combination birthday/Father’s Day dinner. I had started a large grow tray of vegetables and flowers. It sat in the sun in front of the windows. Taped to its plastic cover was a table I made that correlated to the tray. Within the columns and rows of the table, I documented, within each plug, the name of each plant, the number of seeds per plug, germination time, height, as well as which was the front of the tray and which was the back, and the date the tray was made. Roy, Sr. stood quietly, studying the table, then turned to me with a slight smile and said simply, “it shows that you’re a Scientist” and I smiled. I was pleased that he, a Doctor, a man of science and my father-in-law saw me, a Scientist, a woman of science, and his daughter-in-law.
My love and thoughts out to Betty, all of the family, and most especially to Roy, Jr.
From the heart,
Jamie

Worked for years with Andy and Roy at Winsted Memorial, became close friends over the years. I moved to CA the day before Jenny was born. I have pictures from my visit with them in Norfolk with the three youngest.

I will remember my father in all the beautiful things on earth, a warm wind, a beach sunset, birds that make you notice them, striving to be an athlete, singing and listening to music, and my insaitiable passion for healing and helping others. Most of all his voice, his blue eyes, and sense of humor. Love to Dad forever..... your Lindy Lu
