Guestbook for William McGinn, III Showing 1 - 18 of 18 entries.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I first met Bill at Highland Lake around 1955. A group of us from Winsted, West Hartford, Windsor, Torrington and Wethersfield hung out together during the summers. Bill and my late brother, Jim, were the mischievious ones who would always make us laugh. He named his son James after my brother.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I am sorry for the family of Bill, I knew Bill back in the day when he ran Gasland Gas Station top of South Main in Winsted, Kirby and Mike worked there too. I used to stop and hang out now and then Me and Dan C. He was a good guy I use to run into him at the coffee shop now and then that was his hang out he liked going there, he is in the hands of God and may he rest in peace.

We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Willie McGinn's unexpected recent death. Speaking for myself and my Mom, who still lives in Winsted, we knew Willie as a dear friend for many many years. Will was a member of many late-night debates at my parents' house, always bringing humor and heart to more or less arcane intellectual topics (how did Cape Cod get to have an elbow?). He shared innumerable half-cups of coffee with my Dad, and I will never forget how true it was when Will said after my Dad's passing that my Mom and Dad were like Yin and Yang, complementing each others' strengths. It was the nicest and most insightful comment anyone said at that time. I will sorely miss my 'home town philosopher.'

To my friends-all the McGinn family,

Having known Bill since childhood, it came as a surprise to learn of his passing. I had seen him often, though not enough lately, at one of our favorite Winsted places where we often talked, and agreed, about local and national politics, the economy, and people we knew. And family.

Bill's sense of humor was beyond compare, as was his brilliant mind, dedication to family and to his community too. Like all the McGinn family, he wanted the best for everyone. I shall miss him as many in the Winsted area will and will always keep him, and his family, in my thoughts and prayers.

God bless you Bill. You are in a better place.
